Who We Are

Hampton Virginia Military Veteran Movers is a veteran-owned and operated moving company serving Hampton, Newport News, Yorktown, Williamsburg, Poquoson, and the greater Peninsula. Our crews are veterans from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. We are a paid vendor for the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, and our work has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Monticello at Town Center is one of the properties we work most often in Hampton. Every month we move families in and out of this community — PCS families leaving Langley Air Force Base, Sentara Careplex medical staff, Newport News Shipyard professionals, retirees downsizing from Peninsula homes, military families choosing garden-style living over mid-rise apartments. We know this property.

═══════════════════════════════════════════════════

Before You Hire Any Mover for Monticello at Town Center, Read This

Monticello at Town Center is a 325-unit garden-style community spread across multiple buildings on 100 Monticello Mews. That size and layout changes the math on a moving day.

Most moving companies that have never worked Monticello treat it like any other Peninsula Town Center property. They don't map the internal street layout. They don't know which buildings have attached garages versus detached. They don't know that some units require a 150-yard carry from the nearest legal truck position. They find out during the move. You pay for the learning curve.

We don't. We run this community. We know which buildings share loading areas, which units have direct garage access, which paths cross Signature Management's grounds-keeping paths, and where the golf cart traffic routes through the day. We plan every Monticello move around that knowledge before the truck rolls.

═══════════════════════════════════════════════════

Moving Into Monticello at Town Center

Monticello at Town Center opened in 2011 as a garden-style luxury community designed for Peninsula residents who want resort-style amenities without the mid-rise apartment feel. 325 units across multiple 3-story buildings on a 100 Monticello Mews campus. One, two, and three-bedroom garden-style floor plans ranging from 850 to 1,500 square feet. Chef-inspired kitchens with European cabinetry, crown molding, huge windows, brushed nickel hardware.

What makes Monticello different from Axis at PTC or The Chapman is the layout and the amenity set.

The layout: Garden-style spread across multiple buildings. Many units have direct attached or detached garages — a rarity in Hampton apartment living. Some residents have computer nooks, sunrooms, and oversized storage rooms. Floor plan variety is broader than any other Peninsula Town Center property.

The amenity set: Resort-style swimming pool, 24-hour fitness center with cardio theater, multi-purpose game room, free coffee bar with WiFi, two grilling areas, dog park, car care area, and — notably — community bicycles for resident use. Monticello leans into the resort-community lifestyle more than any other PTC property.

The tradeoff: Because Monticello is garden-style across a large footprint, getting from the truck to the unit can involve longer carries than at Axis or Chapman. Some units are 100+ yards from the nearest legal parking. We plan the truck path accordingly.

═══════════════════════════════════════════════════

Moving Out of Monticello at Town Center

Move-out day at Monticello lives and dies by truck positioning and leasing office coordination.

Truck positioning matters more here than at mid-rise properties. In a garden-style layout, where you stage the truck determines how many feet your crew walks per trip. We confirm the loading position with the Signature Management Corp leasing office before move day. If your unit has an attached garage, we stage the truck directly outside it — sometimes eliminating hallway and stairwell carries entirely.

Leasing office hours. Signature Management Corp runs the Monticello leasing office Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and closed Sunday. If your move-out requires office coordination — key return, walkthrough inspection, parking permit confirmation — schedule it inside those hours.

Pet policy matters on move day. Monticello allows up to two pets per apartment with a 100 lb combined weight limit on the first floor and 60 lb combined weight limit on upper floors. Breed restrictions apply (Rottweilers, Pit Bulls, American Staffordshire Terriers, American Bulldogs, American Bullies, Bull Terriers, Boerboels all excluded). If you're moving with a pet, tell us at booking so we plan kennel-to-unit routing.

Confirm everything in writing. Email the Signature Management leasing office 48 hours before move day to confirm loading zone, walkthrough time, and key return deadline. Get each answer in writing.

Security deposit protection. Monticello has hardwood and luxury vinyl flooring that scratches under dragged furniture. Brushed nickel hardware dents. European cabinetry chips. We bring floor runners, corner guards, doorframe padding, and stair protection on every Monticello move. Pre-move condition photos and post-move condition photos. No extra charge.

Monticello at Town Center Building Layout — What Movers Need to Know

325 units across multiple 3-story garden-style buildings. Spread across a campus on 100 Monticello Mews in the Coliseum Central neighborhood. Unit access varies by building and floor — ground-floor units often have patio access, upper units have balcony access, and a subset of units have direct attached garages.

Garages are a major move-day advantage. Monticello offers attached garages on some floor plans and detached garages throughout the community. Assigned parking costs $165 to $175 per month. If your unit has an attached garage, the move day math is dramatically simpler — truck parks at garage, crew loads direct, no stairs or hallway carries. If your unit is upper-floor without attached garage, the calculation is more complex.

Multiple buildings, shared amenities. The pool, fitness center, game room, coffee bar, dog park, and car care area are shared across the community. Residents from Building A may be carrying groceries across the same walkway we're using for a move from Building C. We coordinate with the leasing office for move-day timing that minimizes community conflict.

Internal golf cart and grounds-keeping traffic. Monticello uses internal golf carts for maintenance and leasing office tours. On move day we watch for these — they run quiet routes across the community and occasionally cross paths that crews use for loading.

Monticello Mews is a single named street. The community address is 100 Monticello Mews, but individual buildings have internal building letters and numbers. When you book with us, provide your building letter and unit number so we can map the truck path in advance.

Why Monticello attracts Newport News Shipyard workers. Most Peninsula Town Center properties are positioned around Langley AFB and Sentara Careplex commutes. Monticello's location adds strong access to Newport News Shipyard via I-64 westbound — 7 miles, 15 minutes. Shipyard employees on 6 AM and 6 PM shifts rent at Monticello specifically for this commute.

Three Things Every Monticello at Town Center Mover Must Know

1. Attached vs detached garages change everything. Some Monticello units have attached garages (truck parks at garage, crew loads direct, no stairs). Other units have detached garages (truck loads at detached garage, then contents shuttle to unit). Other units have no garage (truck parks at nearest legal position, crew carries from there). The crew size and time estimate depend entirely on which of these three you have. Tell us at booking.

2. Signature Management office hours are strict. Leasing office runs Mon-Fri 9-6, Sat 10-5, closed Sunday. If your move requires office coordination — and most Monticello moves do — schedule inside those hours. No Sunday moves with leasing office coordination.

3. The community size means the move path matters. Monticello is a 325-unit garden-style community. Your specific unit's position within the community — proximity to the main entrance, proximity to amenities, building orientation — determines your move's actual time. A corner unit in the far back building takes longer to move than a front-building unit near the main entrance, even if both are the same size.

═══════════════════════════════════════════════════

Why Hampton Virginia Military Veteran Movers Runs Monticello at Town Center Better

National chains send a crew that's never been to Monticello. They show up at the leasing office expecting a front-door loading zone. They're told the actual loading position is 100 yards away near the dog park. They realign mid-job, losing 45 minutes. They carry everything the long way because they don't know which paths intersect which buildings.

Our crews move Monticello regularly. We know the community layout. We know the difference between the buildings with attached garages and the buildings without. We know the leasing office closes at 6 PM weekdays. We know the pool and coffee bar area gets busy at 5 PM in summer — we route around it. We know which paths the grounds-keeping golf carts use. We know how long it actually takes to move from Building F to the truck.

National chains can't match this. It takes a year of Monticello moves to learn what we already know.

Who Lives at Monticello at Town Center

Monticello's 325-unit size means the resident base is larger and more varied than tighter mid-rise properties. Understanding who lives here explains the building's steady turnover.

Langley Air Force Base airmen and officers. Monticello is 5.2 miles from Langley — 13 minutes. The garden-style layout with attached garage options appeals to military families who want a single-family home feel at apartment pricing.

Newport News Shipyard professionals. Shipyard is 7 miles away via I-64. Monticello is the closest garden-style apartment community to the Shipyard that offers Peninsula Town Center walkability and amenity access. 6 AM shift workers value the short commute.

Sentara Careplex Hospital staff. The hospital is one mile away. Nurses, medical residents, and administrators choose Monticello for the walkable proximity and the multi-bedroom floor plan options (Chapman and Axis don't have as many 3-bedroom units).

Downsizing retirees and empty nesters. Monticello's garden-style single-level options appeal to retirees who sold suburban homes but don't want to climb stairs. Attached garage options sweeten the deal.

Corporate housing tenants and short-term relocations. Signature Management works with ExecuStay and similar corporate relocation providers. Defense contractors, medical professionals on short assignments, and relocating executives use Monticello for furnished temporary housing.

Young families with pets. Monticello's 100 lb first-floor pet policy, dog park, and garden-style layout make it a rare Peninsula apartment community that genuinely accommodates larger dogs.

What Monticello at Town Center Marketing Says vs. What Residents Actually Say

The information below is drawn from publicly posted resident reviews on major apartment review platforms including Apartments.com, ApartmentRatings.com, Yelp, YellowBot, and Facebook, and from our own operational experience moving residents in and out of this community.

Monticello at Town Center's marketing presents it as an upscale garden-style community with resort amenities. Most of the marketing is accurate — the pool, the fitness center, the coffee bar, the amenity set are all real. But Monticello has a more varied review profile than its Peninsula Town Center neighbors, and honest customers should know the full picture.

Parking — consistently described as a problem

The marketing says: Parking available, attached and detached garages optional.

The resident reality: Parking is one of the most consistently negative themes in published Monticello reviews. One reviewer calls it "horrendous." Another identifies parking and price as the property's "two downfalls, everything else is fine." Without a paid assigned spot ($165-$175/month), residents compete for open spaces across the 325-unit community. The garages are real but they cost extra.

What that means for your move: We coordinate with the leasing office for a designated move-day truck position. Not general tenant parking. If you have an attached garage, your move gets dramatically easier — we load directly there.

Safety — real reports of property crime incidents

The marketing says: Safe, community-focused living.

The resident reality: One published Monticello review describes an attempted robbery in the reviewer's driveway and reports neighbor break-ins — both in a car and in a unit. The same reviewer describes management as unresponsive to the safety concerns and notes that residents had to inform each other about incidents rather than receiving notice from the leasing office. Other reviewers describe the property as "safe and clean" and report no security issues. The picture is mixed.

What that means for your move: Do not leave loaded trucks unattended. Do not leave boxes stacked outside overnight. Our crews stay with the truck throughout the job. If you're moving in after dark, schedule your move earlier — Monticello's spread-out layout means less natural surveillance than a tighter mid-rise.

Pest incidents — including a documented flea infestation

The marketing says: Clean, well-maintained luxury units.

The resident reality: One publicly published Monticello review describes a pre-move-in flea infestation in the assigned unit severe enough that "even after several treatments" painters couldn't prepare the unit for the incoming resident. The reviewer described the treatments taking multiple attempts before the unit was livable. This is a documented incident — not a pattern across every unit, but one worth acknowledging.

What that means for your move: Ask for a walkthrough of your specific unit before signing. If you see any pest evidence, document it and require treatment before move-in. If you have concerns, wash and heat-dry fabrics the day you move in. Monticello is not unusually pest-prone, but no Hampton apartment community is fully immune.

Management transition — residents report changes both ways

The marketing says: Award-winning customer service, friendly staff.

The resident reality: Multiple published Monticello reviews reference a management company transition with varying resident experiences. Some reviewers describe new management improving the property and making positive changes. Other reviewers describe post-transition issues — A/C units "constantly going out" in summer, golf carts damaging grass, aggressive new-resident signage including "8 gaudy signs and 1 inflatable balloon man" at the entrance. Specific staff members including Nicole and Brooke are named positively by multiple reviewers, as is maintenance technician Wes.

What that means for your move: Staff relationships matter at Monticello. Ask specifically for the leasing office point of contact for your move. Get every coordination detail in writing via email so you're not dependent on verbal promises that may not survive staff transitions.

A/C reliability — summer heat issue reported

The marketing says: Modern climate control, comfortable living.

The resident reality: One published review specifically reports A/C failure during 90-degree weather with 100 percent humidity — described as "constantly going out." Another review from a different period praises the HVAC and maintenance response. Like most Monticello issues, the A/C experience appears to vary by unit and by how recently the unit's HVAC was serviced.

What that means for your move: If you're moving in during summer, confirm the HVAC is operational and recently serviced before signing the lease. Test it during the walkthrough. A failing A/C on move-in day in a Hampton summer is genuine misery.

Staff praise — Nicole, Brooke, and Wes named consistently

The marketing says: Award-winning staff.

The resident reality: Published Monticello reviews name specific staff members repeatedly and positively. Multiple reviewers credit the leasing office team for positive experiences, and a separate set of reviews specifically praise the maintenance team. This kind of named-staff praise is a real community culture signal, not marketing spin.

What that means for your move: When you call the Monticello leasing office, expect professional treatment. The culture supports responsive management. Get your coordination done in writing but expect cooperation.

The mover's bottom line on Monticello at Town Center

Monticello at Town Center is a large garden-style community with real amenity advantages — attached garage options, resort-style pool, dog park, coffee bar, car care area — that smaller Peninsula Town Center mid-rises don't offer. The tradeoffs are real too — parking scarcity for non-garage residents, a documented management transition with uneven resident experiences, occasional pest and HVAC incidents, and a layout that requires more move-day coordination than tighter properties.

We do not tell you this to discourage your move to Monticello. We tell you because it shapes how we plan the move. Your specific unit's position within the community matters. Your garage status matters. Your move-day leasing office contact matters. We plan all of that before the truck rolls.

When you hire us for a Monticello move, you get a crew that has moved this community repeatedly, knows the building variations, knows the leasing office rhythm, and has the operational knowledge to separate a clean 5-hour move from an 8-hour struggle.

═══════════════════════════════════════════════════

Pricing Framework

Our Monticello at Town Center moving rates are transparent. No hidden fees. No bait-and-switch.

Moves with truck (we supply the 26-foot truck, blankets, dollies, and tools):

  • 2-mover crew: $200 per hour
  • 3-mover crew: $250 per hour
  • 4-mover crew: $300 per hour

Labor only (your truck, your PODS, your U-Haul, your Penske, your Budget rental):

  • $75 per mover, per hour, 2-mover minimum

Typical billing structure:

  • 2-hour minimum on all Monticello moves
  • Billed in 30-minute increments after the minimum
  • No additional fee for stairs within the same building
  • No additional fee for standard residential items (sofas, mattresses, dressers, refrigerators)
  • Specialty items (piano, gun safe, pool table, oversized artwork) quoted separately before the job

What each crew size handles best at Monticello at Town Center:

  • 2 movers — smaller 1-bedroom units with attached garage access, labor-only help
  • 3 movers — 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom units, most typical moves
  • 4 movers — 3-bedroom units, units far from loading position, same-day move-out-and-move-in jobs

Monticello's unit positioning affects crew size more than it does at tighter mid-rise properties. Units with attached garages can often be handled with a smaller crew because the carry distance drops dramatically. Units far from loading position benefit from a larger crew to reduce total move time. We calibrate at booking.

═══════════════════════════════════════════════════

When Something Goes Wrong — Monticello at Town Center Contingencies

Moves do not always go as planned. Here is how we handle the common Monticello contingencies.

Leasing office closed when we need to coordinate. Signature Management office runs Mon-Fri 9-6, Sat 10-5, closed Sunday. If a coordination issue arises after hours, we work around the issue and reconnect with the office the next business day. Plan Sunday moves to be fully self-contained without needing office support.

Assigned parking spot taken by another vehicle. Happens occasionally at Monticello. We document with photos, leave a courteous note, and either wait for the spot to clear or coordinate with the leasing office for an alternate staging position.

Oversized item won't fit through apartment door or stairwell. We assess on-site. Some items can be disassembled. For large sectionals and king mattresses we sometimes route through alternate paths. If an item genuinely won't clear, we document it and advise on sale, donation, or storage.

Weather problem on move day. Monticello's garden-style layout means more outdoor carry than mid-rise properties. We proceed through light rain with tarps and runners. Severe weather — lightning, heavy snow, ice — triggers a reschedule call. The longer outdoor paths at Monticello make weather a bigger factor here than at mid-rise properties.

Pet encounter during move. Monticello has active pet population and a dog park. If we encounter resident pets during loading, we pause, let residents and pets pass, then resume. We never rush pets or hurry resident interactions.

Peninsula Town Center event day. Monticello's proximity to Peninsula Town Center means concerts, festivals, and Hampton Coliseum events affect community access. We check the PTC events calendar before move day.

Frequently Asked Questions — Monticello at Town Center Hampton Movers

How much do movers cost at Monticello at Town Center?Hampton Virginia Military Veteran Movers charges $200 per hour for 2 movers with truck, $250 per hour for 3 movers with truck, and $300 per hour for 4 movers with truck. Labor-only rates are $75 per mover per hour with a 2-mover minimum. Monticello moves typically run 3 to 8 hours depending on unit size and garage status.

Where does the moving truck park at Monticello at Town Center?Monticello is a 325-unit garden-style community. Truck position depends on your specific building and whether you have an attached garage. Units with attached garages allow the truck to stage directly at the garage door. Units without attached garages require coordination with the Signature Management leasing office for a designated loading position. We confirm this before move day.

Do I need to reserve the elevator at Monticello at Town Center for my move?Monticello is a 3-story garden-style community, and most buildings don't have elevators in the mid-rise sense — units are accessed by interior stairwells. This is different from Axis at PTC or The Chapman. Upper-floor moves at Monticello are stair-based, which affects crew size and time estimates.

How long does it take to move a 2-bedroom apartment at Monticello?A typical 2-bedroom Monticello move runs 4 to 5 hours with attached garage access and 5 to 7 hours without. Unit position within the community and garage status are the biggest variables.

Can you load a PODS container at Monticello at Town Center?Yes. We provide labor-only PODS loading and unloading at Monticello at $75 per mover per hour with a 2-mover minimum. Coordinate the PODS drop location with the Signature Management leasing office before your container is delivered.

Do you provide Langley Air Force Base PCS moving help at Monticello?Yes. Monticello at Town Center is 5.2 miles from Langley Air Force Base — a 13-minute drive. Monticello's garden-style layout with attached garage options makes it popular with PCS families wanting a house-like feel. We run heavy Langley PCS volume at Monticello every May through August.

Do you move on Saturdays at Monticello at Town Center?Yes. Saturday is our busiest day. Monticello's leasing office is open Saturdays 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, which simplifies same-day coordination. For Saturday Monticello moves, book 2 to 3 weeks in advance, especially during PCS season.

Do you offer military discounts at Monticello at Town Center?Yes. We are veteran-owned, and we offer military discounts on all moves within Hampton Roads. Active-duty military, retired military, veterans, and military families qualify. Ask for the military rate when you call.

What neighborhoods do you serve near Monticello at Town Center?Coliseum Central, Peninsula Town Center, Phoebus, Buckroe Beach, Wythe, Fox Hill, Downtown Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, Yorktown, and Williamsburg.

Life at Monticello at Town Center — Why People Move Here

Monticello's draw is different from other Peninsula Town Center properties. It's the garden-style option in a sea of mid-rise apartment communities.

Garden-style living with apartment simplicity. Monticello offers 3-story garden-style buildings across a campus setting. Residents who want the feel of a single-family home — attached garages, larger floor plans, community bicycles, car care area — without the maintenance burden of owning choose Monticello. This is a different product from Axis at PTC or The Chapman.

Retail and dining: Target, Cinemark theater, dozens of Peninsula Town Center restaurants and cafes, boutique shopping, coffee shops, and the Hampton Coliseum all within walking distance.

Medical access: Sentara Careplex Hospital one mile away, Hampton VA Medical Center 5.5 miles away, Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital 8 miles away.

Military proximity: Langley Air Force Base and Joint Base Langley-Eustis 5.2 miles away. Fort Eustis 17 miles. Naval Weapons Station Yorktown 20 miles.

Shipyard access: Newport News Shipyard 7 miles via I-64 — one of the closest garden-style apartment communities with amenity-rich living to the Shipyard.

Community amenities: Resort-style pool, 24-hour fitness, multi-purpose game room, free coffee bar with WiFi, two grilling areas, dog park, car care area, and community bicycles.

Pet-friendly with real dog infrastructure. Monticello's dog park, first-floor 100 lb pet policy, and general pet accommodation make it one of the Peninsula's most genuinely dog-friendly apartment communities.

Monticello at Town Center is built for residents who want single-family-home ease with apartment-community simplicity.
